Welcome to the Motoryacht Dorothea web site!

Dorothea is a custom-built wooden motor yacht launched in 1967 at Vic Franck’s Boat Co. in Seattle, Washington.  She was designed by William Garden, one of the Northwest’s most prestigious yacht designers.  Dorothea has cruised around the world logging more than 150,000 miles in the past 15 years.  She has proved to be extremely seaworthy, a capable passage maker, and a fine cruising yacht for her owner during this time.

Vic Franck completed Dorothea’s last major refit over 10 years ago in Seattle.  At that time she received an interior redesign, a complete exterior paint job, electronic upgrades, new sections of running gear, and a complete rebuild on both generators.  Dorothea’s last refit was in the summer of 2004 in Ft. Lauderdale.  At that time she received two new 55 kw Northern Lights generators, audio/video upgrades, and a scratch and shoot paint job.

Captain John Crupi decided to return Dorothea to her birthplace for her latest and most extensive refit to date.  This 15 month refit will include the removal and replacement of 6 fuel tanks, a rebuild of her original 353 CAT engines, a 100% electrical and plumbing redesign and install, state of the art electronic upgrades, new interior configuration and design, and complete exterior paint and varnish.

We welcome you to visit our site frequently and watch our progress.  This is a huge project and we feel we have the highest quality contractors and companies in the Northwest involved in this amazing undertaking.
